New Ambassadors present Credentials
His Excellency Marc de Bourcy, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Her Excellency Joo-yeon Ellen Kang, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, and His Excellency Ossama Elhady, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, presented their Letters of Credence to President Catherine Connolly at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
His Excellency Marc de Bourcy, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, was accompanied by his Spouse, Ms Lisa Faye Hames de Bourcy and his daughters, Ms Kika Jayden Raphaëlle de Bourcy, Ms Muna Skye Nathanaëlle de Bourcy and Mr Joaquim Monteiro, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Her Excellency Joo-yeon Ellen Kang, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, was accompanied by Mr Ko Sung-min, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
His Excellency Ossama Elhady, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt was accompanied by his spouse, Ms Sherine Saleh and his daughters Ms Tala Elhady, Ms Karma Elhady and Ms Yara Karam El-Abd, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Minister of State at the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Marian Harkin TD, attended on behalf of the Government.
The following were also present: Ms Orla O’Hanrahan, Secretary General to the President; Mr Gerard McKeown, Director General, Political Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms Patricia O’Brien, Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mr John Lynam, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms Leah Palleschi, Assistant Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Colonel Tom McGrath, Captain Niamh Fitzgerald, Aides-de-Camp to the President.
The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Dillon McAuliffe.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 3rd Infantry Battalion Stephens Barracks, Co. Kilkenny, under the command of Lieutenant Conor Heary.
Second Lieutenant Kurt Condron from the3rd Infantry Battalion Stephens Barracks, Co. Kilkenny, was the Flag Officer.
Captain William Chester conducted the No 1 Band, which is based in Cathal Brugha Barracks, Rathmines, Dublin 6.
